National Wealth

How will we pay for National Healthcare?

It will cost a trillion dollars. That is a lot of money. We already have a huge debt. At the present time, it is reported that our total expenditures for health care are in excess of two trillion. But Medicare does not include many of these. It pays 80% of true health care costs. Because we will be using a single payer, we are eliminating a great deal of unnecessary paper work. Nursing home care is not true healthcare; it is long term care and Medicare does not pay for that. We can have National Healthcare without increasing our income tax.

We have an untapped source of funds.

Our source has been getting free Federal Services without paying for it. The rate will be low. It will be between 1 and 2 percent. It will not exceed 2 percent. If you are not getting the service, you have nothing to pay. Those that do have to pay will know that they are getting health care and making it available for everyone.

Our National Wealth will pay for our National Health

Our National Wealth is about 54 trillion dollars. One to two percent of that would cover our expense. Those who have kept their assets, not spent it are receiving Federal protection and they are not paying for it. When they aquired these assets they may have paid income tax; they may have received it by gift or inheritance. If they had spent it, they would have no tax to pay. If they keep it, they are getting additional services. Such services must be paid for, because we need the funds. The rate will be uniform.

We may have an income tax reduction.

A large portion of our expenses that are in the normal budget may be eliminated. National healthcare would reduce our Medicaid expense.

Procedures for attaining National Healthcare are already in use.

Our Medicare system works very well. It can cover everyone. Our Estate Tax is set up. Instead of making payment upon death, at a very high rate, we can have payments annually at a very low rate. So, one can see that no new methods have to be invented.

Patients will be able to choose their providor of services. There will be no waiting.

National Healthcare will bring many good changes.
